Reformer Ropes – 8 mm Pair

Pilates Douceur reformer ropes are sold as a pair: two black ropes, 8 mm in diameter, in an extra-long length. They are used to renew the connections between the carriage, the pulleys and the straps of your machine.

8 mm reformer ropes: a pair to renew your connections

On a reformer, the ropes carry the movement from the straps to the carriage via the pulleys. When they need changing, the set of 2 lets you replace both sides at once and get an identical length on the left and right. The set costs €29.95.

The extra-long length leaves some margin to adjust the working length to your set-up. Measure your current ropes before ordering so you know which length to keep.

Reformer rope compatibility: check your model

Compatibility is not guaranteed: every reformer has its own pulleys, routing and fixing systems. Before ordering, check the following points:

• the diameter your pulleys accept, to compare with the 8 mm of these ropes;
• the length of your current ropes, from one attachment point to the other;
• how each rope is attached on the carriage side and on the strap side;
• the brand and exact model reference of your reformer.

If your pulleys are designed for a diameter other than 8 mm, this set is not the right part. Give us the machine’s model reference and we will reply on that basis.

Replacing reformer ropes: preparing the fitting

Before taking anything apart, photograph the existing set-up: the path of each rope through the pulleys, its attachment points and the position of the straps. These photos will guide you when you refit the ropes in the same order. Then compare the old and new ropes side by side and transfer the working length.

Work with the carriage at rest and the springs unhooked. Once the ropes are in place, check that they run freely through every pulley and that both sides are the same length. If your machine’s manual describes a procedure, follow it. Our care and installation page lists the points to check day to day.
