Pilates in hotels and spas: creating a reformer offer for your guests
A studio with 2 to 4 stations, a 3-in-1 machine by booking or events with a visiting instructor: the formats, instruction and equipment for offering reformer Pilates in a hotel or spa.

A hotel or spa can offer reformer Pilates without building a large studio: two to four supervised stations, one versatile machine available by booking, or events with a visiting instructor are enough to get started. The right choice depends on your floor space, your guests and the instruction you can provide. This guide covers the possible formats, the practicalities and the equipment you will need.
What luxury hotels and resorts are already doing
Large hotels offer Pilates in three main ways: a pop-up studio with a partner, occasional classes, or a machine set up for individual guests. These examples are a source of ideas you can adapt to the size of your property.
A reformer pop-up in partnership with a studio (Megève)
In winter 2025, the Four Seasons Hotel Megève teamed up with Sol Studio, a Pilates and yoga studio in Geneva. According to the hotel’s press release, the partnership took the form of a dedicated pop-up studio equipped with reformers, for a few weeks of the season. The advantage of this format is that the hotel can draw on the expertise and instructors of a well-known studio for a short period.
Occasional classes (Paris)
Le Bristol Paris runs “Wellness Sundays” combining dance, Pilates and yoga. According to Journal du Luxe, these events take place once a quarter. It is a light-touch format: a scheduled event, targeted promotion and no permanent installation.
A reformer in the suite (United Kingdom)
In Edinburgh, The Balmoral has launched “Reformer to Your Room”, exclusively for suite guests. According to Journal des Palaces, the hotel team sets up a foldable reformer in the suite and removes it afterwards. Guests follow a guided programme or book a private session with a qualified instructor. The idea is appealing, but it requires a foldable machine, staff to move it and clear rules for use.
Three possible formats for an independent property
For an independent hotel, spa, holiday let or upmarket residence, three formats are realistic, and they can be combined.
| Format | Equipment | Instruction | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio with 2 to 4 stations | 2 to 4 studio reformers, small accessories | A qualified instructor at every class | Properties with a dedicated wellness area |
| Versatile machine by booking | 1 3-in-1 Studio Reformer | Private sessions with an instructor | Spa or hotel with a single available room |
| Events with a visiting instructor | The property’s or the instructor’s machines | Partner studio or freelance instructor | Properties wanting to test demand |
A supervised studio with 2 to 4 stations
This is the format closest to a real studio. It allows bookable small-group classes for your guests, and possibly outside clients too. Allow for each machine’s footprint and space to move around it: our Wooden Studio Reformer measures 241 × 72 × 99.5 cm and weighs 78 kg, with 6 adjustable springs (€1,499.95). To work out the room size you need, add up the machines’ footprints plus a clear passage around each one.
A versatile machine available by booking
If you only have room for one station, a machine that combines several pieces of apparatus offers more variety. The 3-in-1 Studio Reformer combines reformer, tower and Cadillac: oak frame, 242 × 72 × 208 cm, 6 reformer springs and 10 trapeze springs, 135 kg (€2,499.95). It is well suited to private sessions with an instructor. Check the ceiling height: the frame reaches 208 cm.
Events with an outside instructor
A Pilates morning, a wellness weekend or a themed week lets you gauge your guests’ interest without taking on staff. You can work with a local studio or a freelance instructor. Agree in writing who provides the machines, who teaches and who is insured for what.
Instruction and insurance
Anyone who teaches or leads physical activity for payment must meet the qualification rules of the country concerned. In France, for example, they must hold a recognised qualification and register for a professional card; the French Ministry of Sport states that the list of qualifications is set out in Annex II-1 of the Sports Code. Before handing your classes over to an instructor, whether employed or freelance, ask for proof of their qualifications and any required registration. Our article which qualification to teach Pilates covers this in detail.
As for insurance, talk to your insurer about your plans before opening. Check that your business liability cover includes the activity, your guests and the instructors, including any outside provider. Get written confirmation of the conditions for any unsupervised access to the machines.
The reformer uses springs under tension and a moving carriage. Unsupervised access requires, at the very least, an introductory session beforehand, instructions on display and regular machine checks. We recommend supervised sessions.
Choosing machines that fit your interior
In a hotel or spa, the machine is part of the décor, so materials and colours matter as much as the specifications.
| Machine | Material | Colours | Dimensions | Weight | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wooden Studio Reformer | Solid wood, fixed frame | Black, white, grey | 241 × 72 × 99.5 cm | 78 kg | €1,499.95 |
| Wooden Foldable Reformer | Solid maple, foldable | White, black | Unfolded 240 × 60 × 60 cm, folded 140 × 60 × 46 cm | See product page | €1,399.95 |
| 3-in-1 Studio Reformer | Oak frame, fixed | Black | 242 × 72 × 208 cm | 135 kg | €2,499.95 |
| Oak Cadillac Table | Solid oak, fixed installation | Black, white | 242 × 72 × 208 cm | 110 kg | €1,899.95 |
The Wooden Foldable Reformer folds away to free up the room between sessions, which makes it a good fit for a multi-purpose room or an in-room reformer service. Fixed models suit a dedicated space. See the full range in our studio equipment collection.
Personalisation with your property’s name
Personalisation with the name of your property or custom text is possible and is handled as part of your quote: include the text you want, the machines concerned and their colours in your request. We will confirm whether it can be done before any order is placed.
Delivery and installation: plan for lead times and weight
Build delivery into your opening schedule. Standard delivery is free to 30 European countries and takes 7 to 14 days; these are estimates. Full details are on our delivery page.
Given the weight, access needs to be planned in advance:
- 3-in-1 Studio Reformer: 135 kg.
- Oak Cadillac Table: 110 kg.
- Wooden Studio Reformer: 78 kg.
Check the route to the room: lift, door widths, stairs, floor covering. Arrange for several people to move the machines and choose a delivery date outside your busiest periods.
Request a quote for your property
To equip a wellness area, a quote request is the simplest route: choose the “company or venue” profile and enter your company name and company registration or VAT number. Volume pricing applies from 2 pieces of equipment. Our professional Pilates equipment page sets out our trade offer.
Frequently asked questions
What equipment suits a small hotel wellness area?
With a single room, a versatile machine such as the 3-in-1 Studio Reformer offers the most variety. With more space, 2 to 4 studio reformers let you run small-group classes. Check dimensions, weight and ceiling height.
Do I need an instructor on site?
For paid classes, yes: the instructor must meet the qualification requirements that apply in your country (in France, a recognised qualification and a professional card). You can employ one directly or work with a freelancer or partner studio.
Can guests use the reformer without supervision?
We recommend supervised sessions. If you are considering open access, plan an introductory session beforehand, instructions on display and regular machine checks, and get this format approved by your insurer.
Can the machines be personalised?
Yes, personalisation with a name or text can be discussed as part of your quote. Specify the text, models and colours in your request.
What are the delivery times?
